Loosing Grip
Loosing grip has been an emotion we have all experienced in our lives. This sculpture is my way of trying to express my journey through this experience.
If you touch the piece you will find an outline of a hand, this is to represent that we are ok and in control. To indorse this feeling of security I have embedded finger grips, which you can slide your fingers in to feel even more in control and secure, which we have all experience as a moment of joy and comfort.
If you continue around the sculpture it starts to collapse and implode. You will then come across a hand which is peeling away and loosing grip.
As an example I would like to think of it in the way the 4 season all loose grip to each other & go full circle. Like when we all eventually loose grip of life.
This piece is approximately 16 inches tall and made from stoneware. It has been exhibited at the Riverside Gallery, London. It is now the property of a representative of Blind Art and is touring the country in a mobile exhibition.
